Nomination Wednesday – One of the Greatest Authors in a Generation

Welcome to another Nomination Wednesday post, where we take a look on the people who have inspired everyone around the world.

This week’s nomination goes to J.K. Rowling – the fabulous, famous author Harry Potter, whose book series had transformed many young readers from the late 20th, into the 21st Century.

I won’t do an “About” page because I know that everyone knows about J.K. Rowling. So, I’ll be moving onto the reason why section…

Why Did I Nominate J.K. Rowling?

I have always been a fan of the Harry Potter series, since I was a child. But, I never knew about the challenges that J.K. Rowling had to face before their first book was published. Harry Potter was turned down by 12 publishers before one accepted.

I found out that this information through a television movie I watched years ago, called Magic Beyond Words. Although the movie depicts sense of her life (even if some of them aren’t true), it gives an idea of what an inspirational, talented and creative author she has become. J.K. Rowling will sincerely inspire many authors for generations to come – proof that anything is possible, when people think that achieving is impossible.

She certainly has proved them wrong. May her books reign the bookshelves in years to come. 🙂

Nomination Wednesday – Tudor’s Queen of Hearts

Welcome to another Nomination Wednesday post, where we take a look on the people who have inspired everyone around the world.

This week’s nomination goes to Catherine of Aragon, the first wife of Henry VIII.

About Catherine of Aragon

Catherine, the youngest daughter of Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castille, was born in Madrid, Spain in 1485. At the age of five, she was bothered to Arthur, Heir to the Throne of England. At sixteen, Catherine and Arthur were married. However five months later, Arthur died of tuberculous. Seven years later, Catherine married Arthur’s younger brother, the newly crowned Henry VIII.

For a while, her marriage to Henry was a happy one. However, Catherine was unable to provide Henry with a son. Only a daughter, who was the future Mary I. The marriage came crashing down when Henry became attracted to one of Catherine’s ladies-in-waiting, Anne Boleyn.

Henry’s liaison with Anne changed English History, when he broke with the Catholic church when the Pope refused him an annulment from Henry’s marriage to Catherine.

Catherine was sent away and for the rest of her life, Catherine lived in exile in The More and Kimbolton Castles. Catherine died in 1536 and was buried in Peterborough Cathedral.

Why Did I Nominate Catherine of Aragon?

Although she is a tragic figure, Catherine had a strong nature. Living with an unfaithful, then turned selfish King, having great pride for her people, and country, Catherine is a prefect example of being the independent, brave and daring woman. She fought for her rights, she fought for the safety, and protection of others and finally, she fought for her life. Catherine was a leader who had a mind of her own, but sadly lost for the time she lived in wasn’t on her side.

Catherine has taught me what love should be scarified and protected for – especially if you have been hurt and thrown away by the people, who you thought they would be with you for the rest of your life. Her courage and battles have inspired to move on, work and fight, until I achieve my goals. Also her life has shown that in times of struggle, your voice can stand out (even in the tiniest detail). She’s one of England’s first Queens who won the public’s hearts and she certainly won’t be the last. 😉

Okay, so you may be wondering – why the sudden change in attitude?  It’s down to a couple of changes made during these past two weeks.

The first thing that happened was participating in an actual Open Mic Night. After my sadness over the Blue Tea Rose situation, my Dad suggested that I should try and sing on stage. And that’s what I did – and to my delight, the band, and Dad, were playing, and singing with me while the entire audience (including my Mum) were cheering and singing along. I couldn’t have been happier, than to have shared the spotlight again with the most wonderful people on earth.

Song #1: Bitch by Meredith Brooks:

Song #2: Valerie by Amy Winehouse & Mark Ronson:

These were the songs I sang at the Open Mic Night. 😉

The second thing was my life, over my online dating. However, I’m not going to tell you what it is because a) it’s a surprise and b) I need to be sure before I can say what it is; it’s still in the early stages and I don’t feel I’m ready to announce this news to the world (yet).

The last thing was Kat’s surprise return.

This week, Kat text me to say (too my delight) that she was staying in the city for the weekend. So, we met up today, having coffee and then, shopping! We really missed each other and didn’t want to be apart. Kat’s going back tomorrow; however, she’ll be back in two weeks. So, it won’t be long before we’ll be partying again. 🙂

All of these wonderful gifts have got me thinking – surprises can happen, in a way that you may not expect. I feel like I am the luckiest woman in the universe right now. And as I am preparing to start a new year at Drama school, I pray and politely ask to the Universe to help me achieve my dreams and to make them a reality. I’m opening up to anything and possibility that special someone…

Song #3: Fight Song by Rachel Platten:

I am taking back my life – in a whole new direction. 🙂

Nomination Wednesday – If There Isn’t Hope, He’s Still An Inspiration In the Eyes of Many…

Welcome to another Nomination Wednesday post, where we take a look on the people who have inspired everyone around the world.

This week’s nomination goes to Prince Henry (or “Harry”, as he’s known) of Wales.

About Prince Harry

Well, there isn’t a lot I can say as everyone knows and has heard of Prince Harry. However, I would like to share some of the many, wonderful charities he supports because they deserve to be mentioned; they include – Sentebale, MapAction and WellChild.

Why Did I Nominate Prince Harry?

Since I was young, I’ve always looked up to Prince Harry. He’s an excellent role model and an inspiration to children. I also admire the charitable work he does – like saving the animals, helping the sick, and wounded and participating in many special events like the Invictus Games for example.

Prince Harry has also inspired me to help others, hence me working at the British Heart Foundation shop. Every charity he supports is wonderful and makes me smile; I wish there were more people like him.

If I had an opportunity right now, I want to thank Prince Harry for helping the community and for the inspiration he has given to the young and young-hearted. Truly, he is a remarkable person. 🙂
